By complete accident I stumbled upon a book, 'Hide that can, A photographic diary, The men of Arlington House.' The book consisted of work by Deirdre O'Callaghan, a photographic series of men who live in an alcoholic recovery hospital. The images are positively beautiful, even though the subject matter of these mens lives are grim. The photos are very well constructed and considered, even though they weren't staged. This is what caught my eye about the photos. I like the 'candid' type of photography.

What I also like about this book is the fact some of the images have text with them, mostly what the person in the photograph has said, or if not, it reflects their personality. It really gives an insight into these different characters and the text works exremely well to get this across.
